According to Thai news agencies, the eight officers were suspended from their positions pending the investigation in connection to an illegal online gambling case. The process was initiated by RTP (Royal Thai Police) because of the online gambling services offering allegations. According to the available information, the officers were involved in providing various online gambling services such as slot games, baccarat and other casino games without authorisation.

Right now, it’s known information that all eight of the accused officers were involved in both organising and promoting illegal online gambling services.

All sorts of gambling are illegal in Thailand, but it is still an existing problem which is really hard actually to control. This situation once again demonstrated that this problem is much more severe.

One of the ways to solve this problem was proposed by the former government and then Prime Minister Srettha Thavasin. He proposed to legalise gambling to bring all those activities under governmental regulation.

For now, there are no comments from the current Prime Minister. However, his father openly voiced his for the legalisation of online gambling in Thailand.

For now, it’s still unclear whether the government will proceed with the legalisation of online gambling. However, it looks like some of the main faces of Thai politics voiced a pro-legal gambling position. We’ll see if the legalisation of casinos and gambling will actually go through for Thailand in the near future, but it looks to still be on course.
